    YAY! Quotes work now!

    /əˈpäləjəst/
    noun
    noun: apologist; plural noun: apologists
    1. a person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial.
And this *is* my last word on the subject.

Thanks for clarifying your position.  "Apologist" normally carries a negative connotation.  Good to know you don't mean it that way.
Not at all. I'll denigrate face***k all day long, but said term isn't meant negatively. Now I don't understand the *why* of people vigorously defending said sites as their downsides are well known, but "whatever".

    Ha!

It wasn't your last word. "Blasphemer, Heretic, Deceiver!" :D

    Definition of apologist

: one who speaks or writes in defense of someone or something

Everyone fits that description at some time or another.

    "Lighten up, Francis."

Hmmm... I find the entire concept of "Heresy" to be repugnant and evil. Just sayin' But you are absolutely correct, EVERYBODY is an "apologist" for something at some time. When you've got a product that creates apologists out of thin air, then you've got something!

I got on FB about 2 years ago, only because my kids and grand kids are spread out all over, i stay out of politics but i am on several sites i find very useful and informative such as German Shepard and Cane Corso, and snakes, reptiles, and insects groups. I found there is much more to FB than i first thought. One of the advantages of groups is there is no adds or pop up.

Supporters have faith... faith in an idea and belief in a product they think they understand well enough. It's useful to them and they don't see an immediate downside, so they support it.

I carry a Leatherman everywhere, other will ask why and I tell them, "Because I know how to use it."

You see holes and headlines like:

Believe me, I see them also.

But everyone will do their own risk assessment and make their own choices. And Yes, bad guys are out there but not necessarily behind every bush.

Just don't put sensitive/personal material online, in the cloud or anywhere else it can be compromised easily or remotely and you'll do fine.

That's exactly right. Which is why I do tell people, that if they absolutely *must* use such sites, lie. Lie about everything, esp. your legal name.
