  The first link I posted addressed the school offering the NRA Eddie Eagle program for the past 21 years. That link is now broken. Hmmm... Some: Not all parents, were very opposed to an NRA sponsored gun safety program being taught at the school. Why would it be a problem after 21 years? My best guess would be the fairly recent Liberal, Progressive, Socialist (communist) attack of the NRA. I have had a few disagreements with the NRA over my 4 decades as a member but they were minor or resolved. The school principal took the usual cowards way out and cancelled the proven NRA training, replacing it with the Moms Demand Action indoctrination.

  a. curious
  b. have too little experience to use good judgement
  
  It is critical to teach them what to do and more importantly what NOT to do around firearms. Curiosity and no experience is a bad combo. The Eddie Eagle program was a good one. I guess they'd rather have a bunch of curious kids diddling with firearms than to have the evil NRA teach them what to do. Sad all around.

They have long since ceased being primarily a non-partisan educational organization and now largely function as nothing more than a propaganda operation for one political party. If they don't want to be considered Evil by at least half the population they would be much better served by getting back to their roots which is exactly this sort of program. 
  
  For comparison, how would the conservative side of the country react to sex ed programs being offered in schools by Planned Parenthood?

  You'd be surprised what is being taught in schools now. Might want to use a different comparison. Sex ed by Planned Parenthood would be preferable to some of the crazy trash being taught from kindergarten through 12th grade.

  It's not the content, it's the messenger. NRA > Left is equal to Planned Parenthood > Right. They're both highly political and vocal organizations that support policy that's anathema to the base of the opposing party and are thus demonized as the earthly work of Satan by those who oppose those policies.   

  Planned Parenthood kills around 3,000 unborn children a day. How many unborn children does the NRA kill per day? Your comparison of an organization protecting a right guaranteed in the constitution with a group practicing eugenics is a leap of logic I can't make.

  Once the NRA metastasized into a multi billion dollar juggernaut lobby group for firearms manufacturers, they pasted the proverbial target on themselves and us.
  
  No rational person can apply logical analysis to gun violence and conclude that the NRA has caused it.
  
  People faced with an overwhelming catastrophe for which there are no easy answers reach for the low hanging fruit.
  
  The rights of ordinary citizens should be a primary concern of the NRA, not monetary profit from corporations seeking political infuence.
  
  There's a difference between speaking in defense of the lawful practice of free enterprise, and seeking to exclusively pander to said at the exclusion of all else.

  I would completely agree with you Early if you substituted corporations with the Republican party. The NSSF is a very large and effective lobby for the firearm industry. They do their jobs well and do not need the NRA to give them a hand.

The cops are afraid to do their jobs and are being micromanaged to the point that they CAN'T DO THEIR JOBS! It is the fault of the people there that refuse to cooperate with the cops and the city to get the criminals evicted and eradicated from their neighborhoods.   The idea gets sold that people of opposing views are destroying the whole world at the speed of light. This encourages the consumer to tune in for more, much the same as old dramatic serials would leave off in the middle of an action packed moment of suspense.
  
  Opposing views can lead to erosion of things we want. But the crisis just might be exaggerated.

  Well, I expect ANOTHER long shortage of ammunition coming after the first of the year. The Democrats hold the House with a good majority. And ALL the House Democrat leaders have said in no uncertain terms that they will be going for a lot more gun control. The Democrats in the Senate are all on board with that, too. And remember that the Senate, while still in Republican majority control, has enough filthy RINOs in it to move that anti gun legislation forward, and PASS IT! Keep your haidbones in the sand; you're not paying attention to the government, but you can bet your ass that the government is paying attention to you, to all of us, and their intentions are not honorable.
  
  And before you say Trump, and bill veto, remember that the Democrats can put that gun legislation in as a rider on a very necessary bill, and Trump may have to hold his nose and sign it. Democrats can be the Spawn of Hell in that regard.

  Here's the problem, as I see it.

  
  

  We have a small nucleus of Constitutionalists in Congress who represent preservation of the Second Amendment, and all of the other amendments, as well. There are others who go along with them as long as the polls keep showing heavy support for them, and a very small handful who will occasionally vote against leadership to keep getting re-elected in their pro-gun districts.

  
  

  You sort them out, by party, if you want, and figure out who to vote for. But just remember that the only bills that ever get passed into law are the ones that have the entire party's support, and can pull in a handful from the opposition party. One party votes in virtual lockstep, and almost never provides the handful of votes needed by the other party, while the other party does occasionally help pass the other party's bills.

  
  

  Work it out logically, if you can, and figure out who you want in the majority. Or, just get pissed off and say screw it, and let the government do whatever the hell they want, and you just bend over and grab your ankles, like the other quitters.

  The way to defeat the RINOs is the primary them out.  That's assuming that they have an opponent in the primary.  Otherwise, well, you're stuck with them.

  I have ONE vote in the election. I can't get the other millions to see the light. They're too busy getting in line for the free stuff they were promised by the politicians of every stripe. It will be called 'Democratic' but will be that in name only. It will be a hodgepodge mix of Socialism and Communism.

  I agree with Mike, but its very unfortunate that this country cannot elect a (real) Libertarian. As the saying goes, people really aren't interested in freedom for themselves or others. All they want are fair masters. So they keep vacillating between the two major parties, neither of which has their interests at heart and both of which are thinly disguised slavery of one sort or another.

  For those of us who want TRUE Freedom (tm); this sad state of affairs is very frustrating, to say the least!

  I go to the county board meetings in my little county, and there are SOME members of the county board that hate to see me show up. I'm respectful, but truthful, when I speak up on occasion. That truthful part is what causes the friction. I do my homework before I show up. And I thankfully have backing from the neighborhood and from other parts of the county that show up, too. There's still some folks in this little backwater that take their county government and what they do seriously. We DO hold their feet to the fire, and open a few eyes in the process. I'm also good friends with the County Executive; he needs all the help he can get herding those cats in the county government!
