Now my sister has totally lost it

I’ve been best friends with my buddy since we were little kids, 50 plus years. His parents treated me like I was one of their own and I’ve always considered them my second parents. I consider his three sisters and brother as my own siblings and like wise on their part. 

My my one sister is as liberal as they come and there have been plenty of tensions since Trump began to fix and make America great again. Over a year ago we decided during family get together snow one was allowed to talk politics. 

I texted my buddy this morning and said you won’t believe the text I just got. He replied did it start of with “unless you can renounce satin in the White House I no longer want anything to do with you”!  I said yep that’s the one. He got the exact same message and he’s blood!

She said she has unfriended any republicans on her social media accounts and told any republican coworkers if they bring up Trump she’s filing an HR complaint for a hostile work environment!

Shes gone totally delusional and wigged out.  Her husband is from Pacific NW and bleeds blue and is as far left and gone socialist as you can get. I justed didn’t think she’d gone over the cliff with him. 

i said are we still drawing names for Xmas. Still trying to figure out was FO means but there will be no get together sorry correspondence until a Democrat is back in the White House. I really wanted to respond six years a long time but I left well enough alone. 

This is is so hard to comprehend, the right didn’t lose their minds with 8 years of Obama, we may not have agreed but we just waited it out. 

Should i I still send a Xmas card?
Distance is not an issue, but the wind can make it interesting!

    I may not agree with people, and may even think that they are delusional and/or stupid but I’d never allow it to make me feel malice towards someone. I refuse to be controlled by others words and beliefs. To answer your question though: I’d just write her off.

    My sister and I parted ways over politics in 2012, but I understand you being a bit sad over the ultimatum your sister gave you. She sounds like one of those ANTIFA morons. If it was me, I'd tell her not to let the door hit you.......

    One of the few lessons I've REALLY learned in 60 years, is that while time may not truly heal, it sure knocks the hard edges off. Blow it off.....give it time. Take the high road.

    This is basically the end result of all the supercharged rhetoric that has been going on all over the country. You start building this straw man where a person represents, X, Y, and Z-- of all that is evil and you start getting delusional about what a conservative, liberal, Christian, Muslim, black, white, etc., is all about. Sadly, most people have more in common than not and they can't find a common ground because of these imaginary divisions.

    Since I retired, I learned that the secret to happy life is to never participate in drama of any sort...real, created, family, etc...just don't do it....after announcing it to all branches of the family, then packing up and leaving a couple of times, they're beginning to get the message....

    My in-laws are similar, but not quite as bad as Jeff's sister. We do not engage in too many political discussions, but I stand firm when confronted. I have zero tolerance for conversations containing the phrase "assault weapons". 

    My dad is the confrontational GOP'er. Fox News plays 24-7 in his house and he struggles with my libertarian stances on everything. It's almost like he thinks he failed parenting because I'm not a rabid republican.

    Any time my In-laws come to visit I make sure Fox News is on....just because it makes them nuts...but they won't say a word....

    That's very unfortunate and sad. Perhaps there are emotional problems that confuse her perceptions.

    Even combat soldiers take time to trade rations and vist during a cease fire on occasion.

    I agree with the above - let her go. Trying to keep her a part of your life will only cause all of you heartbreak. Let her go and leave her be, forever.

    Typical attention-seeking behavior; best cure is to ignore such characters and cast them out of your everyday life with minimum (If any) contact. If needed, you can always find a relative that can act as a basic communication channel with the other part.

    If that's all you have to complain about with regards to your sister, send her a Christmas card, don't pour gas on her fire, it is her problem, not yours. I got TOO much crap like this with my family, particularly on my moms side, too much pride to act like an adult.

    I like it, I actually copied it, sent it to her in a text wishing them a Happy Thanksgiving and all the best!  I got a "Happy Thanksgiving" back!
