  When I left town after Hurricane Michael I packed up all my guns, because of all the looting that was going on, and took them to the BIL's in Alabama. I then decided it was time to thin the herd. There's an LGS there I trust and he will put them on consignment and/or sell them on GB, for a 15% commission. That would be an option for you if you have a local LGS you trust!!

  Consignment at your LGS sounds good. If you felt like it, you could write an article about any one of them you thought unique and submit it to Gun Digest or simular. Get a freind to do the photos if your not skilled at that.

  I need to sell off some guns too. I keep thinking what are my daughters gonna do with them. Many I don't shoot anymore or very often. Mostly rifles.

  A few years ago, I found a local FFL who sold two of my guns on Gunbroker fora consignment fee.  I was very happy with how the numbers worked out.

  The ones you keep, you could write up a record of what they are and how/why you have them for your daughters reference. I have something similar on an old laptop for my son. I can update it as I go.

  The other thing I've done is gifted a few of my rifles to my nephew. I had several hunting rifles that I built and since I don't hunt anymore I didn't need them. I hadn't shot my 7MM STW or .338 Mag in over twenty years, so I took them to the range for one last time, they were still sighted in. They were his wedding present last year.

  Yes, but all I can say is what I would do, and that is, " Take a deep breath, have a beer or two or three or if you're not into alcohol, some tea and relax. The urge to sell tem will go away. Then just sit down and make a list of all your kids, grandkids, or whatever and then figure out who gets what. Pass 'em down, keep 'em in the family. It can be fun figuring out who you give what to. That is another facet of enjoying your guns, figuring out who to give what to. They will love you for it and you will have a great feeling of satisfaction knowing the guns you once loved and cherished are still in your family, being enjoyed by your family.

  But i understand completely.  Since ive been traveling, thats what my passion and focus is now.  I didnt even shoot this year. 
  
  Ive been selling off my collection  a few pieces at a time.  No rush.  Right now i stopped due to the holidays but will start up after the new year.
  
  consider you may not want to sell your guns on GB, but why not?  Its not like you MUST sell everything at one time.  Sell off 1 or 2 at a time and use the KISS principal.  Thats what i do.  but i will sell something different from the other im selling.  So if i sell a Colt NF in 22, i may sell something else like a RUger or S&W or a rifle.

  Yes you will get some noobs that wont know what you are selling, but there are many others that will.  The way i see it is that you have to put up with the ~1% that dont know anything to sell to the 99% that do.
  
  If you have any favorite gun shops in your area you may want to see what they will charge for consignment.  Or if you have any gun shows, look at the cost of getting a table.  I find putting it on the www give you way more exposure and the chances of getting (more $$$) is a better bet.
  
  again, its not like you must sell them in 1 shot unless you want to.

  I'm keeping a couple "Collectibles" for heirloom purposes and my defensive weapons to ensure I have some heirs to loom too.
