I've been using my I8 as a hotspot with my home PC and it works just fine,  but it won't connect with my laptop. I've tried several different tethers, too.
Wife's I8 connects fine. The laptop is an older Dell Insperon with windows 10. I use the laptop when I travel and a lot of places I go don't have wifi.
I stopped at the Verizon store yesterday and had no trouble linking to anything else.

Zorba, I'm not getting a flip phone!! :)

Any helpful suggestion??

That might be the problem that the laptop is too old and doesn't have the resources to connect through the phone hotspot. When we were at the shoot this year I was having trouble connecting my laptop to their WiFi. The guy from the office came to my room and showed me how to connect the laptop to my phone hotspot. The problem with that was it used up all my data transfer time. Funny thing was that my computer wasn't actually the problem logging on to their WiFi, it was that using The Firefox browser was the issue. After leaving that hotel I stopped in Tallahasse on the way home and had the same problem. Again the office guy came in and helped me, but this time we discovered that it was Firefox preventing me from logging on. I just changed the browser to Safari, logged on to WiFi, and then just started the Firefox browser, and everything was fine. I don't know if this has anything to do with your issue, but good luck with it.

I'd be surprised if it were the laptop being too old, its running W10 - unless it was an upgrade or something.
Hey Al, get a flip fone! ;)

Is it connecting with your wife's I8 and not yours?

If that's the case then try restarting your phone. It might be a setting issue. Also, make sure your charged up or it still won't work.

Let us know. You might have to reset your phone.

Mobile hotspots can be notoriously finicky.

-Restart the phone AND the laptop.
-Turn the MHS (mobile Hotspot) off and then back on.
-Go into the Laptop, forget the connection, and readd it back to the laptop.
-Make sure the wifi on the laptop is on. ( some phones can do tethered (physical cable) connections some do not)

Sometimes when I have that issue with my S8, I rename the hotspot and it works again.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I tried all those things and no luck!
Guess it's time for a new laptop, ten years old so time maybe to upgrade.

    Yo no hablo Apple.. :)

On a side note, been out of town for Xmas, got a text from my neighbor yesterday, our cable and wifi is back. It's a Christmas miracle.

Finally I got it!! Had to change the name of my phone from iPhone to Al's iPhone. iPhone was the name of my old phone so it kept looking for the old I6 and wouldn't connect!!

Telling the windows laptop to forget all old connections would have also worked - hindsight is usually 20/20!
