45 colt Redhawk range report.

I slid out to the range today, it was a balmy 35 degrees but sunny! I had my standard 45 colt loads (250 grain Keith bullet and 8.1 gr of Unique) and another load with me (Sierra 240 JHP with 20 gr H4227). All told I put 1oo rounds through it today 50 cast and 50 jacketed. They both shot well. The top target is the cast bullets the right side was shot single action the left is shot double action. The bottom was the jacketed bullets. I shot those targets at 15 yards off hand. I think with some more tinkering and practice my double action work will improve. Overall I’m tickled to death with this revolver!

    That's a great revolver!

Good shooting too. Especially considering this fine weather.⛄

That redhawk in 45colt/45ACP is really moving up my short list

This is a 45 colt only version. One has been on my list for years.

    Good looking gun!

New or used?  I thought the .45 Colt (only) version came with rubber Hogue grips. Maybe the wood ones you have were put on after the fact?

Either way, it’s a VAST improvement over the Hogue.

I absolutely love my .45 Colt/ACP model of the same ilk.

    Well done.

This is a factory new revolver.... it’s the only one I’ve run across with the wood grips. Thanks Zee!

    That's a nice Security-Six - a bit newer than mine.

    😒

Always wanted a security Six as well. Had one on loan for a bit and enjoyed it.

    Hate you again.

My .44 Mag came with wood stocks.  It's one heavy, overbuilt mother.

That one was made in 1982 and was my Dads first service revolver when he was a deputy in Wyoming.

Then we gots something in common, as mine was my Dad's as well, one of the very early 150 series made in 1973. I remember when he bought it, and the first shot he ever fired from it.

Had a Speed Six, which my sister has now.  I like fixed sights for a EDC revolver.  It is/was a fine revolver.

Yeah, the .45/45 cold Redhawk is a great shooter---------a person might have to change the little grip to a bigger one though.

The 45 cold Redhawk comes with a bigger grip, but, does not seem to be as accurate as the .45/45 C one.

I suffer from Hobbit hands and the factory wood grips are just fine any bigger and it would be a no go. I would have to have it in a Super Redhawk then I could put the compact grip on it.

Nice group with the cast rounds single action, that is good enable-fu right there.
