Not my preferred drink. But, touring the distillery was pretty cool. Such an iconic and historical location.

I'm there 2-3 times. 1st time we got to tour one of the bonded warehouses. It was surprising how many millions in taxes was in each warehouse.

The George Dickel tour in Tullahoma is pretty cool, too.

Not my usual drink of choice either but absolutely a historical icon so their distillery is on my bucket list.

Since Jack Daniel's is in a dry county ya can't buy a bottle of whiskey, but you can buy the bottle. The cost for a bottle is kind of high, but if you buy the bottle they fill it with whiskey for free! :D

It's a great place to visit and a pretty incredible location.  Glad you got to check it out first hand.  Jack's greatest genius lay in picking a spot with that much natural water flowing right to it.  Our daughter was probably 2 years old when we went many years back, and the crinkle in her nose when she sniffed the spent barrels was worth the price of admission.

During a recent social call we were being chewed by mosquitoes. It reminded me of a past acquaintance. I once knew a man that drank Jim Beam from half gallon jugs. Mosquitoes would bite him and die stuck to his arms. Had dead skeeters on him like goose bumps.

I have the same roll top desk in the basement, fully restored.
When I first visited Jerry in 2010 I did a tour of JD's and made a note of the manufacturer. Came home and checked the the one downstairs and it was the same. Wish I had a chair the same as the one above to go with it...........
When you close the roll top and lock it, the draws also lock up. There is also a secret compartment where you can store valuables. (If I tell you where it is, it wont be a secret )

Must go and take a pic and post it up one day.

( Edited to add: It was my Grandfathers, dont know where he got it from but it was fully restored about 10 yrs ago)
Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....

If you are ever in the area it is definitely worth taking the tour. The last time I was there they did not offer to sell an empty bottle to you and fill it with free whiskey. I remember it was a long drive to Nashville before I stopped to slake that thirst!

The distillery is the only place in that county that can sell alcohol

At least it was the last time I was there.

It's absolutely stunning that they survived prohibition.

I'm not certain, but I imagine distilleries were allowed to sell to foreign markets.

I hope you stopped by to visit Jerry.  Teach lives about 1 hour away.

They were and that's exactly what saved them.

EDIT - I forgot one caveat that hit JD...Tennessee kept the ban in place after prohibition had formally ended nationally:

"While Prohibition was lifted nationally in 1933, it took five more years for the Jack Daniel Distillery to re-open its doors - because the state of Tennessee didn’t end the ban on alcohol production until 1938."

Great photos that you have there, this is something new since the majority of the photos in this community are about guns and hunting.
