Question for Ernie about hunting in Wyoming

JerryBobCoJerryBobCo Posts: 8,227 Senior Member

Or anyone else how knows the answer.

Last year, when MHS and I drove by Devil's Tower in NE Wyoming on our way to Montana, we saw deer everywhere.  I even had to stop in the middle of the highway, during daylight hours, because of deer in the road.  We saw both mulies and whitetails.

I don't know if I would make a trip to hunt there, but anything you can tell me about hunting the area, or how I could find out would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jerry

Believe it or not, I've actually been of the same mindset, Jerry.  Currently holding just 2 deer points, but saving up for the right hunt.  Not near Devil's Tower, per se (I just figure that all of the deer I saw up there were present because they lived within the national park boundary and were safe accordingly), but Wyoming definitely has some stunning mulies and great whitetail numbers on that eastern edge.
Accuracy: because white space between bullet holes drives me insane.

    Thanks,

Lot of private land around Devil's Tower.
Not sure how much public land is around there.
North/North West on 14/16 much of that is private land as well.  Going north on 59 there is some public land.  Haven't been into it much, but on one occasion, I saw a nice Muley buck
