Browning Hi Power

A few weeks ago I suddenly had the notion that I had to have a Browning Hi Power. So, I checked out GB just to get a price range, and called around to the five gun shops in my area to see if there happened to be anything available. No luck except for one that had a crazy price (1,700). So I passed, and a couple weeks went by with myself being quite busy with work so I really didn't pursue the idea, until one Friday on my way home I spontaneously decided to check out a small local shop. Sure enough, there it was beaming at me through the case, I went to it immediately and asked to check it out. The price was right, and the condition good, just dirty. Looked like someone a long time ago had put 150 rounds through it and then stuck it in a safe for a couple decades. Its a later Mark III, and the serial check puts it as a '95. After waiting for what seemed forever with WA. State's new laws, I finally took my prize home and gave it "the treatment" which revealed that the gun is probably very low miles, and that the magazine disconnect had been removed, a bonus. During the wait, I ordered some mags and these cocobolo grips, and stocked some needed 9mm ammo. Shot it last weekend and instantly was in love, the trigger is light and smooth with quick reset, recoil management is easy, and the natural ergonomics feel great in my hand. Barrel condition is fresh and accuracy excellent. An early Christmas present to myself.

How cool is that! Congrats on a handsome pistol indeed.

Very nice, congrats. The Hi Power is one I have always admired but never acquired.

    Well done!

Mine has a special place in that it was one of the first semi-autos I ever shot proficiently.

After reading "Serpico" as a young teen, I've lusted after one ever since. It's never happened, though.
Congrats. Yours looks like a really nice one.

    PS....perfect grips for that rig.

Congratulations on finding a really nice gun. My buddy has one that bites if you don't grip it properly

None of Brownings pistols were designed for the ultra high grip we favor today.  If you hold it with your hand lower on the grip so the trigger finger is straight off your hand the bitting goes away as it does on a 1911.  Of course this is not conducive to fast accurate fire, the way we are trained today.
