New Carry Weapon purchased and home

I went to the Dallas Gun Range this evening to pick out my new carry weapon. I picked out five that I wanted to try out and shoot. The Sig 365, HK VP9, Glock 43, Springfield XD-9. As we were heading into the range one of the sales guys brought another pistol for me to tryout. I had no idea of the make and model of the mystery gun.
Once in the range I lined them up on the table. I picked up each one quickly and brought it up to ready so I could see the sight picture. I worked through this exercise a few times and put them in the order I liked them. We loaded the magazines and racked a round in each one. I picked each one and fired two shots at 10 yards and repeated until I worked through shooting each one. I repeated this process three times. The Sig 365 felt too small and was the first to go. I loved the HK but just way too big for what I need to carry. The Springfield went next. It came down to the Glock and the mystery gun.
I shoot the Glock and the mystery gun gun a few more time. The Glock was the last to go but it was close. I asked the sales guy ok what's the mystery gun. The Smith and Wesson MP Shield 9mm. This gun felt, pointed and shot great. I loved it. I actually went with the SW MP Shield EZ. This particular pistol has a beaver tail safety like that on the 1911's. We keep our weapons locked up very well when the grand kids come to visit. However, some times things happen. I like the idea of the beaver tail safety. Right now none of them have hands big enough that the weapon could be fired if they found it god forbid.
I bought 5 boxes of ball ammo and Fedral Premium HST for carry ammo, two extra mags and holster which is going back. Don't like even though I tried it out at the range. Going to Academy tomorrow to look for a new holster.

Distance is not an issue, but the wind can make it interesting!

The SW should serve you well
I had a buddy come over who was on the army shooting team years ago and shoots competitively today. He helped me a ton. He picked me a part as to what I was doing right and wrong, well mostly wrong when we got started. By the time we finished up, I was shooting most 8-round mags into a 4 or 5" circle at 12 yards. The only time I had a flyer towards the end is when I jerked the trigger and I knew it each time I did it. It was a night a day difference from when we first started shooting.
It really came down to grip, front sight, front sight, front sight and trigger pull. As long as I controlled my trigger I was on target, shots were tight. I knew as soon as I jerked the trigger, I'd get a flyer and even called out when I did it. It's gonna take lots of practice to get all this into muscle memory and be consistent. However, for the first time shooting pistol I'm truly understanding the process.
I've been dry firing this evening, and will walk back over the range and shoot another 100 rounds tomorrow. I really enjoy shooting this gun.
