    Got a box of ammo, gotta have a gun to use it in...

  I'm curious to see what you come up with as well, as I had almost the same thing happen. My step father was gifted a box of 38 Super ammo by his daughter who didn't know any better.  He gave it to me, so I have a full box of ammo for it.  Only thing is, I really don't have much interest in the round.  Granted, I've only shot 38 Super a few times.  Just didn't grab my attention...

  Similar thing happened to me a few Christmases ago; my wife decided to buy me some ammo, I told her I needed .45 and .38.  She bought me .38 Super and .45 GAP.  I don't have a gun for either, so I got a big laugh out of that.  Fortunately, the guys at Sportsman's Warehouse were gracious enough to let me return them for store credit, once I told them the story.

  Saw a guy in Cabela's trying to return 9 Mak when he meant to buy 9 Lugar.

  Colt (with Tal?) did a whole series of Mexico tribute guns in .38 Super.  Apparently it's the chambering of choice of pimps and drug cartel members South of the Border.  They were neither cheap or what we would call "tastefully" done as far as the examples I've seen but I'll be damned if they are not the perfect Cinco de Mayo gun!  If I ever find one for cheap I'm buying one

  If I remember correctly 38 Super is popular in a lot of countries because they are not allowed to have what is considered a "military" weapon. "9mm" Their laws sometimes make as much sense as ours.

  Back when I was shooting bullseye matches,I had the opportunity to fire a match with a 1911 in .38 Super....THAT was a lot of fun...I have been contemplating getting one of my own for a few decades now..

  A neighbor knows I recently got a 17hmr and came over with a big smile.  His brother left behind a box of ammo when he moved overseas.  He handed me a box of 17 wsm.  Wonder if I should buy a rifle to shoot it?

  Skeeter Skelton mentioned it in some of his writings. However, some sources say that .380 Auto is the largest round allowed in Mexico.   It was and possibly still popular in IPSC (or whatever) shooting as it could make major caliber without all the recoil.  Or so I heard.
