Oh, yeah!  Much higher.  Not that many made and they have a rep for accuracy.  I don't know how much more because I've never seen one for sale. It's somewhat possible someone tried to make the OP rifle look like a M41b for whatever reason.
That's probably the most likely explanation.  I have seen repro mounts and scopes online in the small time I have spent researching.  I MIGHT keep this and modify it to a faux-sniper configuration just for fun since the rifle is so beautiful and the bore is PRISTINE!  Now I need to get some ammo and see how it shoots.  Crap MORE ammo!?!?!   My wife is definitely going to kill me...
The collector's books are out there.  Do some homework and find out what you have.

But collector concerns aside, you've got an old school, forged & milled bolt action, in good shape, in a configuration known to be frequent sub-MOA shooters, in a cartridge that doesn't kick, yet is commonly used for harvesting moose, and it's already been drilled for some form of optics mount.

Put it in the context of what Holland & Holland would charge you for same.

You've got a ~$350 gun now.  Put a lot of work into it like cutting down the barrel and stock and you've got a $250 gun.  I'd leave it alone.  I messed up one 96, never again.

I think the standard military round was 140 grains.
