Classic looking two-tone with no billboard on the left side!!  Simple and efficient features. And in 9mm!!!

Damn. Must resist!

I read about that gun, but can't remember anything about it.

I bet if someone more thorough and skilled bought one and reviewed it here, I'd have better comprehension. :)

    Resistance is futile.
I too read about it in G&A - I shot a Springfield Range Officer in 9mm a few years back and LOVED IT! And a handsome piece this latest iteration is indeed - one of the very few factory grip panels that would stay on the gun if I were to buy one.

Holy crap!  They blued the slide!  SWOON!

I'm just gonna cut to the chase - you need it.  My pop picked up the all stainless, adjustable sight target model (only 9mm Springfield currently on the CA list) because he's programmed to run a 1911 & his recontructed hands don't like full-tilt .45 anymore).  They're CRAZY smooth guns to run.  And it's already got one of those fiber optic sights you're hooked on.

Very nice, probably a bit out of my price range but looks slick as heck.

That's a great looking piece.  There's something about 2-tone that really draws the eye.
Accuracy: because white space between bullet holes drives me insane.

I was starting to drool until I saw the 9mm part.  I already have enough 9mm handguns.  What I don't have is a .45.......

I don't have a 1911 in 9mm... That one is one of the nicest looking factory guns I've seen in a while.. I have LOTS of 9mm ammo....

Nope.  I'm mad at you now... And I don't need one of those still....  :|

"Need" is such a STRONG word.  :D

Other than the stock "One can never have too many 1911's", your justification is pretty straightforward on this.  You have a small boy.  I got my first 1911 at about 12-13 YO because Dad got tired of sharing his.

Pair of 9mm 1911's, a Mount Everest sized pile of magazines, and an endless supply of juice bottles & dog food cans: life needs little else.

It sounds so “Right” when you say, “pair”. 😎

    Thought!!!!
My LGS has a Ronin. I might see if they’ll take my Kimber TLE/RL II on trade for the Ronin and I’ll pay the difference.

I’ll lose money on the trade. But, my Kimber is and has always been a safe Queen. I don’t don’t use it. So, it’s a waste sitting in the safe.

    Thoughts on this plan?

As long as the Ronin doesn't become a safe queen, it sounds like a plan....
Wait a minute!  You can't shoot one of those, it doesn't look anything like a Glock.  Poking with stick animated emoticon

Don't think I'd make that trade. What is that Kimber worth? The Ronin is around $750 right?
  • JKPJKP Posts: 2,776 Senior Member
And we never advocate trades or reductions of the herd. Additions only.

I like your plan.  The "II" designation Kimbers with their Swartz safeties and firing pin block springs held down by the rear sight. . .probably not an issue for most end-users, but they make my "EWWWWW!" list due to their violation of the First Commandment.

The Springfields are 1911's with skinny firing pins.  I also dig the non-ambidextrous safety on the Ronin, having seen a few of the dovetail-in-the-middle either wiggle lose or break.  FULL DISCLOSURE:  I've always been geeky/giggly about the stock 1911's ability to detail strip with its own parts serving as your various drift punches and screwdrivers, so there's a bit of that purity on this piece.

I’d put a deposit on the Ronin and list the Kimber locally on Armslist.  They move well and you’ll get a lot more on a private sale.  Probably enough to pay for the Ronin or at least close.  I doubt the gun store will give $500 probably less and if you list it for $650 some will rip it out of your hands.

GB and Armslist ain’t gonna happen. I don’t like strangers that much.
