  From what I have seen I enjoy your posts. Also, you don't need to apologize to appease anyone who thinks they are the all knowing oracles of the internet space-time continuum. As long as it doesn't involve threats or blatant derogatory comments I for one think it's healthy to ruffle a few feathers now and then. Everyone should be entitled to their opinions just as everyone should be entitled to agree or disagree. .

  Don't read too much into the poo flinging. Some subjects are just more volatile than others, and some areas are just flat forbidden because of their tendency to go nuclear. I haven't seen anything you posted as being inflammatory or derogatory of others. 
  We all have good days and bad days, and sometimes one of the cats here gets their fur rubbed the wrong direction. Don't pay it too much attention. Like my Granddad said, "Boys, the main thing is to not get excited." Made sense to me then, and still does.

  If I see a subject that has the potential to get too contentious I just stay out of it altogether.  I won't even open the thread to see what is in it, that way I won't be tempted to comment.  That way I can concentrate on what interests me and not get my underwear in a knot over anything.

  Another thing to keep in mind is that some of us. Myself in particular. If I get mad about something. I don't have a good enough short term memory to hold on to it. Long term ain't much better......

  I really haven’t seen anything get out of hand for a bit now.  Discussions and even disagreements have been handled in a rather civilized manner.  I like the “new” atmosphere here.

  When I joined here, I figured my 40+ years (at that time) of hunting experience made me a seasoned pro and soon the old time members would stand in awe of my wisdom. Took me about half a day to realize I didn't know squat compared to the collective wisdom of this board. So, I shut up and just read for a couple of weeks. Got to "know" the characters that made this place what it is.....
  
  When I started posting again I had a pretty good idea of who and how most members would react to most anything. I got to know them, instead of forcing them to get to know me. It made things much easier. While I'll be the first to agree that all new members should be shown every courtesy and mild mis-steps overlooked.....it's not smart to walk into a bar and yell "I'm the toughest SOB in here".
  
  This wasn't directed at you, Justsomedude. I've enjoyed your posts. Glad you're here.

  Linefinder, you got exactly what this post was about. You also hit the nail flat on the head with everything you said. But (there's always a but) I don't think that online folks are the same as they used to be even 20 years ago. Things like social media have made people less social, and inherently less likely to do as you said and shut up and read. Besides, you'd be surprised how many people such as myself were lurkers for a looooooong time, and got to know every member here in a sense, but you all don't get to know them at the same time. So then its easy to join here, pop in for the first time with the "Hey guys I'm here!" mindset. 
  To add: I hope I explained that properly as that goes back to me not always properly articulating my point.

  I kinda get a laugh about this so-called "social distancing" fad that's the craze as of late. In truth, people have been 'social distancing' ever since the "smartphone" came along. People don't even know how to speak anymore without that damned thing in their hand.
