If it is at all possible, I'd encourage you to try and get a copy of 'The Eskimo Hunter' by Florence Hayes. It was published in 1945. My father had a copy from when he was a child and I in my youth I read the book many times. It is about a young Eskimo boy, Kapoonga, and his efforts to prove his manhood by become a successful hunter, and a provider of food for his village. I think you would enjoy reading it if you can get a copy.

I remember my brother and my dad going to hunt deer out in the forest. I always wanted to go with them. Yet, my first ever hunting experience was hunting a dove because thats what my dad called the beginner's level!
