Love Dragonflies
Interesting creatures and have always impressed me as to how they fly and maneuver. Got a lucky photo in my garden the other day and its wing structure is an engineering marvel, IMHO.

I also like watching the damsel flies, too. Only one set of wings, but they sure can do some amazing maneuvers!

A personal true story about dragonflies and one of the reasons my wife and I are very fond of them...
My ex-wife passed away last year. We had a pretty friendly divorce many years back when the kids where very young and my ex and my wife got along splendidly over the years, specially over the last few years as my ex-wife's health deteriorated. I would even dare to say my wife became my ex-wife's best friend. We were actually with her just a few days before her passing recounting stories of youth, kids, life, and asking questions that we had never bothered getting an answer about before and such. The three of us were holding hands in pure love and laughing like kids.
I always loved my ex and our divorce was not about lack of love, it was about two people finally recognizing they had irreparably drifted apart because of, well, life. In any case I was always very close to her and forever will love her as she is the mother of my children, and her passing hit me HARD.
Anyway we went to her memorial service which was in the city my ex and I first lived together as a young couple and her ashes went onto a very small biodegradable raft and drifted out from a boat in the middle of a VERY large lake.
While we were on the boat during the remembrance part of the memorial we were asked to tell stories, and while I was talking about her a dragonfly (again we are in the middle of a VERY large lake) just flew on to the boat and landed on my leg and just stayed there for a while.
As written above, Dragonflies in many cultures signify change and my wife saw what was going on and she was firmly convinced that this was my ex wife thanking me for being there and remembering her. Just her way of letting me know everything was Ok with her after her "change".
I thought that was cute but gave it no more thought....
Next morning everyone was busy so I decided a little time by myself after breakfast by the hotel pool was in order. While sitting on my lounge chair I was thinking about the great times my ex and I had in this city as a young carefree couple, and the whole dragonfly thing came back into my mind again. So I silently asked my ex that if the dragonfly was truly from her the day before please send another one to confirm the message. I looked around for about a minute... and nothing. Needless to say I was REALLY disappointed in the outcome of my request so I decided to lay back and just enjoy the sunshine...
And as I lay back and look straight up into the sky I see what must have been a THOUSAND dragonflies right above me about 50 feet in the air. The one thing I can say about her is that she never failed to get her point across CLEARLY when we were married. Apparently that talent stays with you when you cross over...

A Canada goose, the only one I ever saw in Louisiana, silently glided over my head at about 30 feet altitude.
Colorado Springs has more Canada geese than you can shake a stick at, and are a very common sight. But every time I see one.....I wonder.
