Walleye anyone?
We kept 13.
I don’t know how many total we caught. Also put a bunch of Shad and Smallies on the boat didn’t keep any of them.
Headed back up river.

We go, it's like an old house converted to classy restaurant. The one who wanted Walleye ordered their Walleye special which was $39.95. We all get our meals which looked fantastic. Then comes the Walleye plate. Sitting on the plate was a 2" x 2" square maybe 3/8" thick piece of Walleye surrounded by lots of rabbit food. My engineer who ordered looked directly at the waiter and said where's the rest of it. Sir, that's our standard 2 oz portion. After some dialog that got him nowhere he begrudgingly ate it without much fan fare.
When we got in the car to head back to the hotel he said "see that Burger King across the way, time to hit the drive through"! We just laughed as he ate his whooper and fries. Next night we go to a sports bar. They had a 14 oz Walleye dinner for $17.95 which he said was excellent!

Walleye are of the Perch family and taste quite similar to Yellow Perch, just larger...
In Upper Michigan, Lake (Yellow) Perch and Whitefish are the going thing at restaurants.
Got my wrist slashed by two landing them, tried to eat two of them....no thanks. More featherbones than carp and rainbow trout combined.

The trick to picking up a pike is to reach across their head with your thumb and middle finger and pick them up by the ridges over their eyes...don't ever mess with the gill plates of a pike...they're like razors
...
This....from a guy that's caught and landed hundreds of alligator gar with complete aplomb.

Northern Pike for the northwoods of Wisconsin. Just recently heard there is a bounty being offered to take Northern out of Green Mountain and Wolford Reservoirs here in Colorado.
