Good movie. I guess to be in accordance with today's audience it should have been The Wolfperson or the Wolfwoman. 🤔
Watched this last night - Lol! Definitely an enjoyable bomb! The doctors in the lecture room scene had me rolling! The dude just keeps blabbing away while Wolfie is morphing behind him. Lol!!!
I love Open Range. Just about anything with Robert Duvall is an instant favorite with me. I thought that Annette Benning was very good in it, too.
Like both Tombstone and Wyatt Earp, although I like Tombstone better. It's too bad they came out about the same time. I think if they had been released a few years apart both would have been better received.
And speaking of Doc Holiday, in the 70s there was a movie called "Doc". It was somewhat of a biographical tale of Doc Holiday. Stacey Keach played the role of Holiday. I thought it was pretty good, from what I remember.
And gotta add The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, starring Paul Newman. Probably 90% fiction, but a fun watch. It was released in the late 60s or early 70s.
Am I showing my age?

Gun control laws make about as much sense as taking ex-lax to cure a cough.

Really liked Robert Duvall in Lonesome Dove. Speaking of Duvall, I had no idea that was him as Boo Radley in "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Here's another recent bomb that really wasn't that bad.
It's based on the real life Coast Guard rescue of the SS Pendleton in 1952. Released in 2016, it just didn't catch on. Probably because there wasn't a leading lady in the movie.
Hmm... well it was based on a real life rescue in 1952.

This movie bombed big-time at the box office but it became a favorite on dvd.
This is basically Kurt Russell's last action flick (released in 1998), it looks a bit dated by today's big budget standards. It's set in the distant future so don't take it too seriously. The movie begs the question, which is better? Old tried and true -- thinking -- experienced veterans or young powerful steroid driven mindless drones.
Overall, it's a fun watch. 👍

Good movie...the bizarre part was that two tankers of the same class broke in half in the same storm on the same night....those Coasties had some huge brass balls....

One that just came to mind is Cannery Row, which is based on the John Steinbeck novel. It stars Nick Nolte and Debra Winger. The narration by Walter Huston really made it all work, in my opinion.
If you have never watched this, give it a shot. I think you'll like it.

Agreed. It’s a fun popcorn movie.

I didn't know about this movie, but I'm familiar with the book. The club I danced in for years was the actual, real life brothel that Steinbeck immortalized in his work! I'll have to look up the movie...

I had a chance to be in Tombstone when it was filmed, although I didn't know that's what it was at the time.
I was a teenager when the movie was being filmed in Arizona, not too far from here. At the time, I worked at a horse boarding facility that did trail rides and had a saddle and tack shop with a very good saddle maker in house.
A guy who was responsible for gathering up gear and taking care of the horses for the filming of the movie came in to buy horse stuff and I believe had some saddles and other tack custom made there. If I look hard when watching the movie, I can pick out some of our stuff. Anyway, my daily routine working there was to do all my morning work as early as I could, then saddle my horse and trail steers in the arena, practicing heeling, then put my horse away and do my afternoon work. The guy working on the movie was watching me one day and asked if I'd be interested in going to Arizona for a while to take care of horses and he would get me into the movie as an extra. I could even take my horse with me and get him in the movie with me...
Short story long, I was all about it. Until he told me I had to get get a medical physical done.. "Nah... I'll pass.." It wasn't until later that I found out the movie was Tombstone. I'd have done it in a hearbeat had I known that...
Whether it's true or not, I don't know, but I recall that man talking about Kilmer being on the set, saying he intentionally starved himself and went to great lengths to make himself look that sick...

Absolutely true! I seem to remember him having some actual medical issues because of it. Same with Dennis Quaid. Those guys take their trade REALLY seriously.

Another movie I REALLy like and I don't think it did all that well in the theaters was "The Accountant". Excellent job by all the folks involved and it suited "what's his name" very well since he really didn't have to act

Here's a bomb that I would call the best over-the-top ridiculous dark comedy Zombie flick ever made. It's an apocalyptic action gross out flick filmed in retro 70's drive-in style from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez Rodriguez. It bombed at the box office probably because of the gratuitous gross out shots.
Anyway, I found it hilarious! 👍
Yes, that's an AR as a pegleg, and it shoots!

So if you're capable of turning your brain off for about 2 hours and just enjoy the sheer spectacle of it all, you might actually enjoy this movie also. Bring booze and popcorn, it really does help.

Ya can't make this stuff up! I have a picture around here somewhere of some of my dance sisters dolled up like 1930s prostitutes standing in front of the place.
The club is closed now, after a 50 year run. Now its just another tourist trap grab and go restaurant. The lady who ran it knew Steinbeck well, it was directly across the street from Doc Ricket's lab which is still there.

Quaid lost about 35 pounds to play Holiday. Kilmer sprayed himself with some water. I think Tombstone would be more of a Sesame Street type entertainment with mostly made up facts. I did enjoy “The 13th Warrior.” The original title was supposedly “The Eaters Of The Dead.” I like the first better.

I rewatched Cannery Row last night, and enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first. However, it was John Huston who narrated it, not Walter. And, if you like 40s swing music at all, you'll enjoy the score.

Couldn't stand Event Horizon. It was billed at the scariest movie since the Exorcist.. No, maybe the loudest movie since the Exorcist. The cut scenes into the the Event horizon was just people flailing around and spurting blood. It made no sense. Meh.
To me, Kilmer made Tombstone. Russell was good as far as that goes, but Kilmer went over the top.

Here's a popcorn silliness movie for everyone. It's billed as a dark fantasy martial arts comedy and Jack Burton have many of the best lines.
