I'll bet'cha Zee got an immediate frown on his face...  :D

El Paso Saddlery, no real good reason except I've been wanting a really good reproduction of the old ARMY holster for a while for my vintage 1911s.  Got a GREAT deal on eBay from a guy in the UK of all places.  I already have the El Paso belt and several magazine pushes that match.

Might be an interesting way to carry my 10mm when I'm hiking, but probably not...  Oh well, it'll look great in my office!

Maybe a search of archival photos could provide practical and inspirational insight as to functional use?

I need to get one of their repro shoulder holsters. Eventually.......

I predict:  It will look really kool in pictures, some Will think badass.  Nice conversation piece.  Walking across the desert.  Eh, maybe.  For a walk through the woods? Once the novelty wears off you will remove it and shove it in your backpack for the walk back to your vehicle.
I wore one for about two hours before I all but begged to exchange it for a tankers style holster in Bremerhaven.

Yeah, that's pretty much the assessment even before I sling it off a belt.  I bought it because I just wanted one mostly because of the old pictures of folks like Gen Omar Bradley and Gen "Black Jack" Pershing wearing them in the field.  It will probably never see a day of field wear but I might wear it at the range at Jerry's just for fun.  When I do return to SASS they do have "Wild Bunch" stages where it would come in handy.

Sounds like a plan.  It is a style of holster I wanted to love.  Still love the look

Nice rig...that holster is a cavalry variant...the drop is there because it's meant to be worn on horseback. For walkin around, it attaches directly to a web or pistol belt.
I have always liked that style of holster...they just look sharp...

Thanks!  I fell in love with it after I saw a picture of “Black Jack” horseback with his 1911 in one of these while chasing after Pancho Villa!

This is my second favorite equestrian statue after Longstreet's statue at Gettysburg. The folks who trail ride the battlefield often say their horses get spooky when they come upon that statue

Upon close examination of the Springfield on that statue...it's perfect in every detail as is the 1911...

I was gonna say, The 90s called and they wanted their holster back. Then, I saw the holster. So, the 20s called instead. 😒
