Mohs surgery

Seems the last two years it's been one thing after another.
I've had a spot on the first knuckle of my left hand for almost 20 years. I saw a GP about it 15 years ago, and his Rx was "Lotion! Lotion!! Lotion!!!" written on the back of a business card.
Fast forward 15 years, and an actual dermatologist biopsied it and it came back positive for cancer. He did a scrape and burn and things seemed to be going well, until our last really days-long cold snap occurred. At first I thought it was just the cold. No.....it had come back.
So, today was Mohs surgery. Time consuming, but a pretty simple, painless affair in actuality. But, due to the location of the site and the amount he had to remove to obtain "all clear"....I needed a skin graft. He cut a chunk out of my left upper arm for the patch.
Once again, simple, painless procedure, but I can't go back to work for 9 fricking days.....I never saw that coming. And I have to see him again in 7 days before even that is valid.
OTOH, it's been a bit painful for several years, but he said he got it all and this surgery is reportedly 99.4% effective.
But I never saw a skin graft and 9 down days coming.

glad yours went well. No return on mine about 4 years out now.
And, yeah, Mike......they "caught it in time" 15 years after I first asked them to look at it.........

Once they get their hooks in you, it never ends and it comes from all directions.

Then things get worse.
Hope yours was and stays local. I had a spot of cancer scraped off the side of my nose maybe 8 years back. Fortunately I had noticed something "weird" and non-pimple about it pretty early on in it's life and the first Moh's pass got it done with only a pea-sized scoop of tissue gone.
Worst part was we opted to fill the hole with a chunk of beef collagen that allowed more thorough healing from inside out to prevent facial scarring. Worked well, but it was a long span of creatively cut bandages & Vaseline. Anywhere else on my carcass, we'd have just stitched it closed.

God bless you.
Gun control laws make about as much sense as taking ex-lax to cure a cough.
and here I thought I was the only guy that had body parts not working, or looking, like they used to.
Being old I read about all here that have medical problems and I sympathize with all of you.
Being sick is only part of the problem, no one mentions the affect on your wife, kids, etc or the money aspect , or when you beat yourself up because ya cant do something.
All I can tell ya is hang tough, at least we havnt assumed room temp.

Tell you one thing I've taken to heart, though. If you notice a spot, get it cyro treated as fast as you can. While Mohs surgery in and of itself is no big deal, a skin-graft is a different animal. Recovery time is much longer.
I tried to get this taken care of 15 years ago. Had I not had a quack as my PCP at that time....this event could have been easily avoided.

Regardless of the tool you use, it's impossible to effectively shave one-handed.
