I am HATING 2020!

So. . .I didn't get drawn for my first choice tag.  POOP!  But probably just as well, as the California wildfires just ate a big chunk of it.

Fell back on my usual local zone as the second choice. . .and now they've closed ALL the National Forests in the state due to the tinderbox-dry conditions. . .which may keep up until the start of rifle season or beyond.  I can only imagine how ticked off the archery guys are (season open now)

And now Primary Hunting Buddy is trying to get cataract surgery, but that probably won't happen until after the season, and the problem is to the point where dawn/dusk target ID is a real challenge.

So yeah. . .looking like what would have been the high point of Crappy COVID Year might not happen.

GRRRR, :#

These things are temporary. At least that's what I tell myself.

I miss getting out and all that went with it. I don't miss the guilt of missing a weekend with my son or the stress of having to extract a big carcass by myself according to a time schedule.

I will hunt again. How soon. I can't say. I've got it to look forward to.

Covid is (hopefully) temporary, the hysteria will most likely continue - just with a different focus.

I looked at the extended forecast - not having a lot of hope for the rifle season kickoff a month from now, to say nothing of the personal issues complicating matters.   Local air quality is truly CRAP at the moment.  Not the worst I've ever seen it. . .but YUCK!

Frustrating.  COVID has given us six months of having to pretty much stay inside and/or avoid people, and now we can't go OUTSIDE to avoid people.  It's like being in a suspended animation chamber, without the benefits of actually being in a suspended animation chamber.  Work & home.  Rinse and repeat.  Take a vacation?  To go where and to do what? Netflix wears thin. . .Erg. . . :/

Those fires are bad.  Bad enough that the smoke was rolling into my own antelope hunt in western Nevada so heavy that you couldn’t see certain mountain ranges from the road.

    We're not through November, yet.

    Yes.  Shaft, not ray.

DFW sent out an email basically saying it's all still up in the air, but they're giving links to instructions on tag refunds, swaps for preference points next year, etc...  Deer tags not refundable in any event.

Zero rain in forecast from here to end of month.  Given that they've got all the state's National Forests closed already, I can't see them opening back up for the season without rainfall.  Putting myself in "The Man's" shoes, staging a rescue effort during a fire for up to 3,000 hunters who are TRYING to get as far off the beaten path as possible (and probably camping with fire sources while they're at it) wouldn't be my idea of a good time.

    Yes.  I want 2020 hindsight, as in 2020 - a memory.

You remember that Loverboy song from the '80's that went "Everybody's working for the weekend"?  Yeah.  Not so much at present.  Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff.

And the left is DESPERATELY spinning this idea as conspiracy and rumors all over Social Media...

    Agreed!

If you're a lib, just leave your politics at the state line.
