Just a thought but anything the .44 Mag can do the .444 can do farther away without losing anything short range. BUT, you do already have a 45-70 soooo...
And I've got 3 45-70's and a 444 marlin and still want a 444 in a single shot. What's your point
I already have a Marlin .44 mag and a single shot I built on a NEF 12 gauge frame, and Ruger single actions to go with. In .45-70 I gots a Ruger #1, two Sharps replicas in rifle and carbine length, a rolling block, and a Marlin lever gun. I'd go for the .444 just to have something different to punish my shoulder with from time to time.
