I bought this locally just before the pandemic got going at full blast so it took a while to get it in good shooting order. After finally getting it to the range my first evaluation was correct. Functional, but the bore was beyond hope!! I recently got it back from being relined and got to the range. Results are great.
First few rounds grouped a little left but settled in after a few fowling shots.

Not bad for old eyes and open sights! 1873's are a hoot!! Action is very smooth, sometimes it's hard to tell if a round chambered. The toggle link lock up is weak, though, and only good for low pressure pistol rounds. I can see why it was so popular, being the first center fire repeater.
