Need some help here guys............

After 16 years of working mainly weekends on the charter boat I decided to train a replacement to assist  Mark so that I could 'reclaim' my weekends. (Will still be doing the midweek trips, relieving the occasional sat/sun and be on callout for emergencies.) With that in mind,after fri and saturdays trips left the new guy to help Mark on sunday, headed home and hit the sack late saturday night looking forward to waking up on sunday at a reasonable hour ( instead of O dark a thirty) and doing things normal people do on sundays.............and therein lies the problem that I need help on...


(I woke at 4.30am, couldnt get back to sleep, did all my housework etc and ran out of ideas at 7.30am. Cleaned and sorted out a couple of gun cabinets, cleaned the inside of the car, visited my sister and niece who is due to have a baby any day....the niece that is.....Happened to arrive unannounced as the nieces girlfriends turned up for the baby shower......4 of whom immediately commenced breastfeeding their own babies which caused the other 3 guys to depart for the garage to drink beer and talk about interesting topics like the release of some new Nike shoe, their latest exploits in playing games on their phones and where the best latte was to be found....I stayed and talked to my niece instead. BTW, she asked me if I was embarrassed by her friends breast feeding and my reply was If they aren't embarrassed why would I be!!!. Headed back home, Rang BH and organized an afternoon hunt for rabbits and deer , picked him up and headed for the hills. shot a few rabbits and just as the deer started to come out to feed on dusk all our mobiles started screaming with the national alert sound and notified us that at midnight we were going into level three lockdown. Dont know if you have a similar system over there but when alerts come through on our mobiles they bypass the mute setting and can be heard at least 5 miles away........consequently every deer within the area decided to head for the hills and all we saw was their rear ends disappearing into the scrub. Got back 10 mins before the lockdown commenced)

So, my question is, What do normal people do on weekends???

( Yeah yeah, I know I shouldnt be asking you guys cos most of you aren't normal but neither am I so you probably have some good ideas lol,)


Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....

    I have no clue anymore.  I do concealed carry classes and train folks to shoot.  Can’t remember the last weekend day I got to sleep in... 🤣

    Of late...I've been making stuff out of a pile of buckskin I had laid aside....leatherwork keeps me engaged...and then I also do some cooking for the wife and I...
    Of course I would be steelhead fishing but it's entirely too cold to be on the river and the boat ramps are a sheet of ice...

    I've never known any normal people.

    Yesterday I froze. Today I'm just cold. So sometimes Sunday's are better. Next weekend, who knows.....

    Weekends? What's that? Oh, you mean those annoying two days where some businesses are closed, one of which when we don't get any mail? ;)

    Church, groceries, lunch, whatever office work needs finishing, bookwork, clean house, do laundry, fix stuff kids and cats broke, yard work or snow removal depending on the season, figure out everybodies schedules for the next week, wash, rinse, repeat.....

    Turn the dam phone off, leave it at home and enjoy what God gave you! Peace, quiet and communion with him.  I miss the western sky now that I'm living on the east coast

    No help here so far which is what I expected and welcomed.........Thanks for confirming the family bond this place has. o:) I love this place.

    To answer the question honestly? I'm a grumpy old man and embrace it! However, I actually wasn't trying to be bitchy in the above post - I was trying to be funny (hence the winking emoticon). Obviously, I failed. Can't win 'em all!

    Ok, for the benefit of the Gringos, what does that mean?

    A 'B' license is for pistols and you have to comply with very strict conditions.......
    A 'P' license is for pest destruction and allows you to have semi auto rifles......
    Am thinking hard about the 'P' license as I might start a new business doing Pest destruction. Am already clearing up a few places of rabbits, possums, peacocks and deer and could turn it into an income based proposition........With BH due to retire in the next few years it could keep us busy and provide extra money....
    Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....

    I'm putting a new roof on my sleepout/come reloading room this weekend.
    dunno if it's normal, but it is necessary.

    It all depends on what I HAVE to do that weekend. If not high priority, I will sleep in until I wake up. Might be 7a or 11. I have always been a lounger, but only if everything is settled. Never been one to think I wasted a day by sleeping or napping as long as stuff is settled.
