Eighty One years later this movie smacks of today, it's scary!

In 1940 MGM came out with the Jimmy Stewart movie Mortal Storm.  Based in the German Alps in 1933 when Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany.  It's an outstanding movie but smacks hard at what is happening today.

In the movie with the announcement of Hitler becoming Chancellor, Germany changed over night.  You were either with the Nazi party or you were not.  Life long friendships and families were gone in a blink of an eye because of different views!  Proven science is thrown out the window as it didn't agree with the new Nazi party.  Though we haven't started throwing people in prison camps because they do not embrace the new order, we shame them, fire them from their jobs, call them racists, homophonics  and everything else because they have opposing views!  Joseph Goebbels becomes the minister of propaganda and only what he wants the country of Germany is published.

Fast forward 81 years and the same thing is evolving.  The democratic party is trying to take over the country and become the only party.  FB, Instagram, Twitter, CNN & MSNBC to name a few are now the ministers of propaganda for the democratic party.  It's only what they want you to see and read!  If it goes against their fellow party it's not published or mentioned.  One hundred or more different genders are being shoved down our throats despite what science says.  Science doesn't matter any longer they say.

My youngest son Ryan who straddles the fence as to when he sees himself as a democrat or republican watched the movie with me.  I didn't tell him what it was about just a period piece prior to WWII.  When it was over he looked at me and said this movie is what is playing out today in our country on a national scale!   It really showed him what is happening!

If you get a chance to watch it, it will be eye opening for sure!

    This is absolute nonsense.

I have seen no one persecuted for contrary views to either or. Nor have I seen anyone prosecuted for political views.

Everyone within the sphere of my perception is free to vehemently disagree with whatever they choose to. And to further more put it in permanent print for mass consumption.

I don’t think It’s nonsense, I just see parallels as to what’s happening today. We can agree to disagree that what makes this great.

It's not "parrallels" - it's the same damn line.  People are just as dumb today as they were in '33.

Yeah its not like people have had their lives ruined, businesses shut down and socially ostracized due to today's cancel culture or anything like that.

You guys are comparing free political discourse with Nazi Germany. The OP even said in response to me we can agree to disagree.

i don't watch the news outlets listed in the OP. Nor am I on Facebook or Twitter. No one has tried to force me to do so or even coerce me in that direction.

There is no parallel. Its a false narrative.

Early, you've demonstrated time and time again that you seem to live a bit of a sheltered life. You stated above that you don't watch "listed above" news outlets. I'm not sure if you watch any news outlets but sticking your fingers in your ears and covering your eyes hardly means that bad things aren't transpiring around you. I'll also have to agree to disagree.

This is nothing I haven't been saying for several years. The parallels between what's going on now in the US vs. what was going on in Germany in 1933 are significant. Its not as bad as Germany was then - YET - but its getting there.

Some people disagree because when they think of Nqzi Germany, they think of gas chambers, the holocaust, genocide, etc... They don't think of the actual parallels that proceeded all of that such as blind obedience, misinformation, political corruption, etc... Most things don't just start out at the extreme. They work themselves up to it.

No one has even volunteered to suggest to me that I drink the cancel culture koolaid, join the deep state, memorize the happy slogans or even buy an arm band.

Of course bad things are happening. This is planet earth. I hear some news throughout the day. So far its not mandated.

Don't be hard on the boy Mr. Jeff, under 30 everyone's a Liberal Democrat unless the old man's a drunk and beats ya.   It generally changes by late 40's early 50's.   I was never a Liberal but I did vote Democrat.

But that was long before I discovered they are as crooked as the Rino's.  There has not been a true Conservative since Barry Goldwater and a decent Democrat since Harry Truman.
Once we get past Ike where down the toilet like a turd.

You don't need to go back to 1940, check out 'Network' from 1976.

The so called American Dream has been dead and gone for over 35 years now, some just haven't realize it yet.  It's only while you sleep and in fact may have never really been more than just  that.

The golden years in America only lasted for 30 years.  (1950-1980)

America is a dead rotting corpse.
The goal now is to replace European White with the socialist's commies from the dumps of the world and that's exactly what we have been getting in for 40 + years now.  Why, because they grew up depending on government for everything and will not complain about anything, easier to control.

Lie to them, poison their food and water, rob them blind etc.  They'll march to the beat.

One hundred or more different genders are being shoved down our throats despite what science says.  Science doesn't matter any longer they say.

I think you are confused about what science is. Like forum names, gender is a social construct. You seem to be confusing that with someone's (scientific) biological makeup. If I decided I would like people to call me Jermette the Sugar Puff Fairy, is anyone really trying to tell you that my DNA has been transformed to the sugar puff sex? No. You are being silly. Nobody is saying that. And if I did decide to become Jermette, does it actually affect you in any way? Does it give you the right to treat me like a sub-human?

I know this guy named Enzo. He used to identify by the name Wambli Ska. Then he identified as Gunnut. Now he is identifying as Wambli Ska again. Does it hurt me to call him by the socially constructed name he identifies with? No. Gender is basically the same thing. It isn't science, it is just names and it is no reason to deny a person's humanity.

How about treating all people with common decency regardless of what they call themselves?

And if I did decide to become Jermette, does it actually affect you in any way?

It might if you now want to compete in a weight lifting competition with my wife who has competed with bio females for years.

    Or most any other sport.

Or want to share a bathroom with my daughter.

Or now qualify for a fat government contract intended for "female" owned companies.

I could probably come up with more.

Does it give you the right to treat me like a sub-human?

    Absolutely not!

I've always been a big fan of live and let live.  I would have no problem having a beer with Jermette.  But when you meet my daughter in the ladies room wearing a medal you just "won" by lifting more weight than my wife and start bragging about the gov contract you beat me out of because I'm a "man". . . well that's gonna suck.

Then if I point out any of the above " injustices", I'm labeled homophobic, racist, facist and probably the worst epithet there is,  a Trump voter who, in many circles are truly considered sub human.

It's easy to ask "Does it affect you in any way", but as a very intelligent fellow is fond of pointing out, your rights end where mine begin.

If only it were that easy.

    ...
    That's all I got.

Now can you explain which one of these cultural issues that you highlighted defies science? Does culture identify as science now?

I never said anything about defying science.
I just tried to answer your question about how you becoming Jermette might affect me.
Anything else anyone reads into it is their doing.
I'm not smart enough to debate "culture identity science".
That doesn't mean my opinion on who gets to share a bathroom with my daughter makes me homophobic.

Glenn Beck was the canary in the coal mine 11 or 12 years ago. Based on what I saw through history since the 60's, I subscribed to his "theories" about fascism and communism and I was made fun of for it here. Considering what we are now in the midst of, I now view the man as a visionary. Mark Levin is providing an even more alarming synopsis of what is going on in this country. Just because we have not yet seen the actual fascists and communists running things, doesn't mean it's not happening. I believe these scum are in the background and waiting in the wings for the right set of circumstances to make it possible for them to duplicate what happened in Russia and Germany so many years ago. Today, even Canada is resembling a hard-core socialist country. It only took about 4 or 5 years for Hitler to consolidate power enough to become a dictator. Even the Jews supported him in the beginning. I bet they were sorry about believing that giving up their guns was going to eliminate crime and be beneficial to society in the long run. If you've ever read '1984' or seen the movie, what we are witnessing now seems surprisingly similar to that scenario. Joe Biden is only the conduit for, and does the bidding of the people in the government and the left-wing media that want this transformation to happen.
BTW the communist takeover has been going on for over 100 years. Instead of violent revolution, we have the "frog in the slow boiling water" tactic. This was solidified in the late 1960's after Marxist professors started writing books and propagandizing students in universities and colleges.

    JOE MCCARTHY WAS RIGHT:
THE DEMOCRATS ARE THE NEW COMMUNISTS!

First, I had no idea what direction this thread was going to take.  I feel what's happening in this country very disturbing and getting worse.

What I was getting at on gender, if you lose your job, are failed by a college professor, or HS teacher when you state biologically speaking there are only two genders, there is an issue.  When we're creating new birth certificates with something other than male/female what science is it being based on?  What new chromosome other than x/y (and in very rare cases xxy) are there.   Someone is choosing a gender for an infant other than what they are or may even identify with when they're older and can choose.

When someone says I'm a what ever?  In conversation you refer to them as him/her or by their name and they file an HR complaint.  You stand the possibility of losing your job, being suspended or being written up for not using the proper noun.

There are things that are black and white x or y when it comes to gender.  What you feel or do with it after that is up to them, it doesn't make me wrong if I use the wrong pronoun.  My mind says I'm still 29 but my body says I'm on crack!

Sorry Jermette the Sugar Puff Fairy, that was at best a feeble attempt at shoring up your point and I wish you would not use me as an example.  A forum name is insignificant in the context of this discussion.  This issue is hugely different and of substantially more weight as it affects OUR society as a whole.

While gender might be a social construct to the "woke", the use of this term as associated with biological (science) male/female goes back to the 14th century and has been accepted as a legal term since the creation of our country.

There is a truckload of case law tying gender to biological sex designation as well as perceived and self-assigned:

Throughout the history of our country and well before that it was NOT considered a social construct by society as a whole, until a very small minority in the USA somehow deemed to be so.  It is quite Ok for the majority of society to oppose the will of a loud minority when they disagree, especially if history and law are on their side.   But just saying it is not so carries no weight.
    I’m baaaaaaaaack… 😬

You either have an innie or an outie. That's biology. The rest is semantics, and Liberals will argue semantics until the cows come home! Myself, I consider semantic arguments a waste of time.
I do lots of things most people would consider "feminine". If that's what they want to believe/say - I don't really care, but I don't see it that way. I'm a "outie", and I don't apologize for it. If I wanna wear a skirt, I wear one; and it doesn't make me a woman any more than pants on an "innie" makes her a man!

Yea... no. Samuel Alito even researched the definitions in 1964 to find where sex and gender are used interchangeably and couldn't in his dissenting opinion for Bostock v. Clayton County. He couldn't. The fact that gender and sex are different things was actually a key argument in his opinion in which Kavanaugh and Thomas concurred.

I fall in the ever growing boat of “I don’t care”. If your a male or female and wish to be called something else fine by me I don’t care. If you appear to be a male and would prefer to be called a female, and I unknowingly call you by the wrong pronoun be gracious and politely mention as such. But so many times it becomes way more than it needs to be because the person needs attention and makes it a big deal. I like other have no problem with your choice but don’t expect me to hold the same opinion as you.

Men do not belong in women’s sports there is a difference. Women also don’t belong in men’s sports for the most part.

Now where I live if you voted
for Trump your ok but mention that on the other side of the state and you are treated very differently simply because you voted for someone who’s ideals more aligned with your own than the other guy. It’s doesn’t matter if you like or dislike the guy or agree with everything he does or says you voted for him your wrong and a bad person.

In this state healthcare and school workers are mandated to take the vaccine. If you chose not to you will be fired. Also if you speak out against it you will be labeled.

No one is “forcing” anyone to do anything, but in my opinion, the small minority are pushing so hard and creating such a division in this country that is hard to deal with.

Yea, those were the good old days when victim class groups said they just want to be accepted.  Now a days, NOT good enough.  You will CELEBRATE us and put our propaganda up in your cubicles and your elementary schools!

Due to my job in a VERY liberaI city, I spend a lot of time at many different K-12 schools.  These really are indoctrination centers.  I would home school or find any other alternative  before I let these . . . cult followers get their hands on my kids.
Among my fellow employees there are VERY few people who aren't rabid liberals.  When myself and one of the few conservative employees talk about political issues we find ourselves talking very low and on the lookout for other people in ear shot. Hey, maybe I'm a victim class. 😃
I am so looking forward to retirement and moving somewhere with some semblance of normality.
Btw, here is something you won't hear on the news. The homeless epidemic is actually a drug epidemic.  The majority of homeless haven't fallen on hard times, they actively choose to live on the street looking for their next fix.  That's why it's so hard to get them off the street.  They actually want to live like that and in places like Seattle, the city council creates a welcoming environment. In short, there are no consequences. I have seen bums taking a dump on a busy sidewalk, people shooting up on bus benches and no shortage of mentally unhinged people staggering in the middle of busy streets.
I'm over thinking the voters must be sick of it. They would rather shovel human waste from their doorway every morning than risk their woke status.
    . . . rant off.

    That's all I got.

    Yes, yes, and yes.
I was actually asked once. I was in a fairly formal looking skirt, pretty much dolled to the nines with jewelry and makeup on a cruise "formal nite". Gal asked how to address me. I just politely said "I'm a guy, thanx for asking." while pointing at my facial hair. Biology!
As for the sports thing - as my wife said just yesterday: "There goes any chance of a girl getting a sports scholarship!".
