Bands instead of free weight
Since the company I work for cant seem to make up their mind of what my sced is and the Covid, the gym has been something I havent seen in a while.
I have been doing stuff at home and I decided to try bands. I got a 20 dollar set from Wally World.com ( I refuse to use Amazon and WW has had everything and most of the time cheaper) and they showed promise. Used them for 6 months and liked them, however the tube bands have a place where they are at full stretch.
I bought a full set of Undersun and so far, I like them. Still messing with different exercises but I can put the whole kit in my PC bag and take it to work. No excuses.
What I like
The bands keep resistance on 100% of the time. So you do negatives as well all the time.
You dont get the "bounce" at the end or beginning. If you are older, your joints know why thats bad.
There is plenty of resistance, and you can add a little or take away by slightly changing position.
What I dont like
Tough on the hands. You need to wear a set of mechanics gloves.
Good for upper body. Havent yet figured much else out, not intuitive
Finding the right resistance. Most are pretty easy, tricep kick backs I struggle to find the happy place.
So if anyone is looking for a portable alternative for exercise that doesnt bang the joints, I think they are worth while
It's boring, and your lack of creativity knows no bounds.

Grew up on a black top crew. I knew how to puke from heat exhaustion and over exertion long before I became a Marine. Besides, I'm 57 and most of those I was rode hard and put up wet. I live with pain.

Had this conversation with my 23 year old. I told him there is no such thing as "old man strength" Its that the only thing that stops you from pushing harder is pain, and old men are in pain all of the time so we just dont notice it.
