Any experience with Chaparral Arms guns?

There’s a nice 1876 in 45-60 on GB that might be going for a reasonable price and a big frame lever gun is on my list.  I’ve heard of Chaparral but I can’t remember if good or bad and I’d rather have first hand experiences than reviews by unknowns in the web.  Not a sure thing I’ll be bidding on it but since Crossfire Trail I’ve had a taste for a 1876… 😁
I’m baaaaaaaaack… 😬

I have never owned one, but several years ago, before we inherited several lever gun, i was thinking of making a purchase .  After doing some research i purchased a Marlin as i found little good said about them.  Many needed work out of the box.  I believe parts are an issue also.

I have the Uberti 1876 in .45-60 and LOVE LUV LUVE it! Crossfire Trail and Tom Horn sealed the deal for me!!
It's easy to load for, just trim down .45-70 cases, 300 grain cast. You'll need to find dies, I think Midway had them.
MIxed reviews on Chaparrel firearms, though, go with your gut!
I put a Marbles tang sight and Beech front sight on it.
Ron shot it, he kinda liked it!

That guy Ron liked it a whole lot.  Like if you had left it laying around it might have gotten lost in my trunk🙃😎😗

Cimarron by Uberti actually…. No need to talk about the Chaparral anymore.  Thanks for playing.  Now where the hell did I put my Tom Selleck hat…

Yeah. . .my dive into the Old West end of the pool has been pretty minimal, but Cimarron really hit me with a "not screwin' around" vibe.

When I was still LGSing for my paychecks, Dad expressed an itch for a Peacemaker.  Had Cimmaron's 5.5" Artillery Model come in and hooked him up.  Aside from the numbers matching (original Artillery's were arsenal Frankenguns cut down and pieced together from tired 7.5" Cavalry pieces), it copied what I know of the real thing in every detail.

That they had several different models going for the same kind of replication, and gave the option of the 1st Gen cylinder retention screw definitely had me stand to attention and salute.

And yeah. . ..'76's are fun. . . if the .577/.450 Martini Henry round was Dr. Evil, the .45-75 Winchester would be Mini-Me. :D
