  I don’t know if the top and bottom really belong to the same gun. This thing was crudely sporterized and got only knows where what came from. Thanks for playing!

  Forgotten Weapons did a program on the Carcano.  The 6.5 bore isn't common 6.5 as in reloading components but is a few thousands off, I think it's bigger, which he says might be the reason for poor accuracy using modern components.

  If I recall correctly the 6.5x52 uses a .268" bullet whereas just about every other 6.5mm cartridge uses a .264" bullet.

  Actually it's a Japanese Carcano, it's a cross between both. So the bottom metal is correct!  Nambu World: Type I Rifle—The “Japanese Carcano”
