Sometimes ammo just looks good…

Amazing when you open a box of Nosler ammo what a massive difference in “feel” from the run of the mill Winchester, Remington etc.  these are outright pretty.  Brass polished to gleaming, they are a class outfit.

Difficult nowadays to find ammo for many of my guns so when PSA puts this on sale for basically the cost of 6.5 Creed brass well you just have to try it.  If the stuff doesn’t group, I’ll pull the bullets, re-weight the powder charge precisely for consistency and seat something else that I like better in the cases.  But I’d be shocked if the don’t shoot well.

I picked this up for the model 7. This is great stuff.
Aim higher, or get a bigger gun.

Yeah right?  I'm going to feel bad chambering these!!!  Should be interesting, they are loaded with their Nosler 120 gr E-Tip no-lead which seems to have a good reputation as a hunting bullet for medium game.  At just over 2,800fps at the muzzle it should be a relatively soft shooting round in the Kimber Hunter.  I also scored a box of Hornady Superformance tipped with their 120gr GMX no lead bullets so I will be able to do some "science" on those types of bullets for 2022 hunting season.  Those are advertised at over 3,000fps at the muzzle.

With regular brass at over $1 a case (Nosler almost $2) and price of primers and bullets this was a no brainer purchase.

123gr Hornady FMJ and 140gr Nosler Custom Competition.  The 150gr Nosler ABLR is a long looking bullet as well, but its really deep in the case

This was for my rifle, but the 129, 142, and 150 ABLR are all limited to the same overall length.  If memory is correct the Kimber magazine was the limiting factor for those three bullets.

I’m sure it is.  The Kimber will be a dedicated sub 400 yard deer, hog and MAYBE local bear mountain gun for me.  I doubt I’ll ever need anything bigger than 120-140gr proper bullet moving at 2600-2800 for that so it’s all good.  Actually I’m hoping one of the 120 class no-lead bullets shoots/performs well enough that I can just buy a lifetime supply of them and call it good.

I think I have a lifetime supply of 129gr and 140gr Hornady InterLock bullets.

I do have a few boxes of 120gr GMX, 120gr TTSX, and 127gr LRX that I will probably try out in mine.  The Grendel didn't like the 100gr or 120gr TTSX when I tried them in it though.

I have a pile of 6.5 Remington PSPs like the ones they use for their CoreLok ammo.  They are not sexy but they kill stuff.  I’ll play with those too.

I for one will gladly pay the price difference for nosler brass. Nosler, lapua, and Norma are my preferred in no paticular order. I do not get extremely anal about consistency of brass like some benchresf and extreme long range shooters. I have compared brass by weight , water capacity and have found the 3 brands listed above to be very consistent from round to round and lot# to lot# compared to other manufacturers.

That seems to be the consensus.

While not as pretty as the factory ammo, my hand loaded 6.5 CM based upon the 140 grain Nosler BT dropped the doe dead right there.  Needless to say, I was pleased with the bullet’s performance.
