Heard that Alzheimers in chief is expected to make a big, gun control, announcement today.

Curious how bad his handlers are going to make it?

Hopefully, the reminder that congress makes laws and POTUS executes them (sometimes) will prevail.
    That's all I got.

The ATF can just have a "finding" and make a new regulation.  See: bump stocks.  IIRC, that was an issue where a Republican Congress wanted something to prevent the sale, but didn't want to go on record as passing a law (gotta keep that NRA rating high) so they let an Executive Office agency make a regulation.

And before I get the "a bump stock isn't a firearm," well, neither is a hunk of slightly milled/finished aluminum or plastic.
    I'm just here for snark.

I wonder if this might affect EBR rifle kits?
As in everything BUT the lower?

Hey. . .if Geezy wants to pour additional (overpriced) gasoline on his party's mid-term election funeral pyre by flapping his gums about more draconian gun control measures and elevating Beto O'Rourke to head of the ATF. . .

For those about to rock, I salute you! :D

It will be challenged all the way to the Suoreme Court.  Another move meant to pander to the fringe that’s going to backfire on them.  I can’t wait for November…

Was not the Colonial Militia requirement that each man provide his own small arms?  And would not the regulation of a man trying to make his own small arms be a pretty gross infringement?

I've never had one law class, and I'm finding this defense pretty easy to construct.  And I haven't even gotten into the fact that the reason these libiots are crying for more gun control is the repeat offenders they insist on both not hanging and then letting out of jail.

Well brandon said that one can be made in as little as thirty minutes.

Oh, there are lots of little gotchas in the ruling.  There is a requirement for any unserialized weapon that goes through an FFL will need to be serialized- the FFL will be required to serialize it and run it on a 4473.

With the requirement for uppers to now be serialized- that could be now read to mean every time an FFL gets an upper in for repair he may be required to serialize it and have you fill out a 4473 for it.

With the modularity of ARs- will the ATF now start frowning on mis-matched uppers and lowers?  Will you have to get a stamp for both the upper and lower for an SBR?  Or do you just serialize and stamp the upper, and it’s cool to slap it on any lower?

As something that is supposed to be a ‘clarification’, it seems to be written to specifically obfuscate the issue.

I believe this is the exact intent.
Make it so confusing that nobody can figure it out.  He told so many kies during that press conference it wasn't even funny.  Put a few parts on table saying anyone can do it.  Yeh sure they can.

The exec order is some 200+ pages so it will take awhile to be understood.

is there a requirement to have the manufacturers name also?

parts could just be numbered without traceability to the manufacturer or purchaser.
