New toy to test/play with

Wambli SkaWambli Ska Posts: 5,435 Senior Member
I decided my main carry gun is and for the foreseeable future will be the Glock 48.  At this point it’s basically the gun I carry exclusively.

I originally thought the honor would go to the 43X but I have found out I shoot the 48 better and faster and the extra 3/4” slide length makes ZERO difference when carrying AIWB which is my customary carry all year long now.

So this made my 43X redundant and it was gathering dust in my safe since my wife has her own.

Well one of my trainers/partners wanted to get a 43X to play with and he had a SIG P-365 that he bought also to play with and test.  A gun I’ve been curious about for a long time.

So we decided to swap!  I now have a new toy to evaluate.

First impressions, it’s tiny and really light.  Smaller than the 43X and I have a 12 and a 15 round mag to play with.

The trigger is fantastic, better than the factory Glock but I knew that, and I also know I shoot this gun very well from previous experience.

It’s not replacing the 48.  I have that gun figured out and after a lot of rounds I’m REALLY comfortable and confident with it.  I don’t like the magazines or the short grip so I’ll never get a flush magazine for it.

But, it does fit in my back pocket with the 12 round mag in it so it’ll probably get that role of “gun to carry when I don’t want to carry a gun”.

I bought on last year and love it!! (After i shot Ron's) I wish SIG made a .45 about that size!!

The 365 does have a nice trigger, out of the box.  And it has gotten even smoother after shooting it more.

If it was in .45 it would only hold 4 in the magazine.

The P365 for me just feels. . .weird.  The grip almost feels like I'm holding a round broomstick with no discernable front, back, or sides.  Nice enough gun, but for me. . .weird.

I knew there were some fans of the platform in here.  My first experience with the gun years back was very good.  I paused the buying process back then and ultimately went to Glock because of the firing pin issue which they have since addressed.

This combined with Zee’s constant…. endorsement? 😁 sent me Gaston’s way which with the new slim framed offers has been a great experience and I’m not going to change that decision.  Just looking for something else to play with and the swap made two big boys giddy with new toys to test out.

The grip is indeed different and I guess rather subjective to individual “feel”.  But in all cases they’ve managed to cover it in a very aggressive stipple that somehow is not rough agains bare skin. Great accomplishment in my book.  So far just practicing my draw at home the gun falls consistently into place in my hand and points naturally.  Range time should come soon.

The only thing I dislike about the gun is Sig pricing on magazines.  Dear LORD!  $50 a copy for factory mags!!! 🤬🤬🤬

That's my EDC. In my mind it's an excellent compromise when you don't want to tote a full size gun.

I fired my nephew's 365 and was very impressed. If I was in the market for another CCW it would get the nod. It fit my hand very well, trigger was good and comfortable to shoot.

Like the 43X/48 with 15 round Shield Arms mags.  These little guns are NOT much of a compromise.  If my 17 didn’t share mags with my 9mm AR it’d be sold by now…

I have an XDS I really like, but the 365 trigger is nicer! I looked at the 320 but it's bigger than the XDS.

You should look at the P365 XL.  Probably one of the nicest guns Sig has ever put out.

    For size comparison.

    From the top:

    Sig P365
    Glock 43
    Glock 48 MOS

    Capacity in the same order?
    12+1, 15+1, 15+1

Wambli, you can convert a P365 to a P365XL (frame) for about $70.
It takes a minute or so and a small punch to push a pin out to swap out the frame.
If you want to go really tiny, you can get a 10 round mag that will fit flush with your regular P365.
    That's all I got.

That’s interesting!  I thought that was the case but thanks for confirming!  I have a few 10 rounders with the pinky extension on hold with one of my partners.  He’s giving them to me for cost 😎

Remember, the 10 rounders won't fit the XL frame.
I keep mine in XL configuration, with a laser attached, on my bedside.
If I ever make it my EDC, I'll probably put it back to non XL.

    That's all I got.

Depending on what I am wearing.
Shorts flip flops and t shirt infuse the X10.
