Slashy cutter….

One of my Fathers Day gifts from my wife, a Daniel Winkler knife.  His shop is right here in the mountains of NC.  He’s been an American Bladesmith Society Master Bladesmith since 1993 but the folks around here still consider him a local boy.

This is a nice outdoor tool with a blade of 5” but it’s .30” thick with a wicked edge.   Inside the handle is a fire making kit.  The sheath is configurable for high, low or horizontal carry and it’s thick Kydex with a leather lining.   

His stuff is known for extreme toughness and there are videos out there of SF guys putting one of his tomahawks through an engine block with no damage to the edge.

    Very nice. I'd prefer a full leather sheath but that's just me.

    Funny!  I’m bringing it to a saddle maker to make me one.  That way I have options.

    For the love of the good lord, will you stop posting your new slashy stabby cutters.  I'll go broke and I can't afford any more.  Each time someone posts a new one, there's 10 more on my list I want!   :smiley:

    Resistance is futile. Mr enabler posted a Boker like this some time ago and I bought one.

    That’s not a degradation  towards you. We just have different tastes and needs in a knife. Most of your taste doesn’t fit my need/preference.

    I know, I know…. I like pretty and you’re more practical in your choices.  That’s why we have options 😁

    But in this one we agree.  I wanted bombproof and practical and this is it.  Plus the maker is a good guy that donates a lot of stuff to our military so I want to support this.

    It’s already living in my Jeep and belt when I’m in the field.

     Wambli your wife is thoughtful and generous. My advice is don’t forget her birthday, your anniversary, Mother’s Day or Christmas and demonstrate similar generosity.
