Murphy showed up... But I beat him so far.

Got up today at 4:25am to catch a 7:05 flight from the Ft Laud. Airport to La Guardia. It's about 40 miles from the house. I am exiting the expressway, 595, to enter the airport when my right front tire goes flat. It is about 5:20am, and dark. I manage to change the tire on the expressway bridge, not get too dirty and still make my flight. At La Guardia, I get to the taxi stand, and the first two drivers don't know how to get to the Hospital 14 miles away. Driver #3 has a GPS, but in the middle of the trip tells me it's a flat rate 2x the meter rate. I tell him I want to speak to the 311 complaints and he says " it's OK the meter is running... You want to pay the meter rate?". Sheesh! Then my driver passes the destination and I tell him he missed the turn. He shows me his GPS and tells me " it's still 15 minutes from here...". So I had him let me out... No tip of course.

I hope the rest of this one day trip goes better...

Just stirring the pot a little! I'll be in the east central PA area this week, and maybe further northeast, depending on how a cargo relay goes from the old truck website where I hang out. Then it's back across PA, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois before heading back to Tennessee.

Your story kinda reminds me of Coogan's Bluff where Clint ask the taxi driver how many (Central Parks?) were there in NYC or something to that effect and left a crappy tip.

I have had exactly ZERO trips that involve La Guardia go well. That place is one of the outer circles of hell, and a gate to the underworld.

    What hospital ?

I drove livery to earn extra money, but I carried maps etc, and a two way 800 mhz radio and a cell phone, if I needed directions to the odd place I was not familiar with.

LGA airport was always a horror, esp the PONY Cops, even when I was a LEO they tried to start trouble.

I went to Long Island Jewish Hospital to see a specialist about my chronic leukemia. The bad news is I need to start chemo within a few weeks. The good news is there are treatment options and I don't have to start with the really toxic stuff. I am still hopeful to make the SE shoot, but I may be "bigdans light".

At least I am supposed to keep my hair... :)

Great Doctors there, I used to transport lots of patients to that facility.

I will say prayers for you. :angel2:
